Ribbon Embroidery Class

Return to Gallery

I designed this piece and taught a class to the Brandywine Chapter EGA group I belong to (located in Delaware).

The main technique I was teaching was Silk Ribbon Embroidery.  If you are not familiar with Silk Ribbon Embroidery, the ribbon is very beautiful and curls/twists into three-dimensional shapes.

Two color choices for the class were offered (Christmas or Summer Colors); and the design project was kitted up for the gals attending the class.

Materials include:  Base fabric is an even-weave linen; River Silks is the brand of Silk Ribbon used for this piece; beads; and several other textured fibers were incorporated into the design.

Alternate finishing ideas: You could make this into an ornament or small sachet bag.

The piece on the right was mounted in a porcelain jar lid.
