Matthew T. "Machoo" Ciarlone, 20, of Downingtown, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, surrounded by his family.

Matthew suffered a year-long courageous battle with leukemia.

Born in West Chester, he was the beloved son of Michael G. Sr. and Rose Mascherino Ciarlone of Downingtown.

Matt was a 2007 graduate of Downingtown West High School and was employed as a supervisor for Brickman Landscaping.

He had a passion for baseball that started with Downingtown Little League and continued all the way through high school. Matt also loved to hunt with his brothers and his dad.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Michael G. Jr. "Bubba," and Daniel and his wife, Allison; and sister, Deanna R. Ciarlone, all of Downingtown. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Fleck of Downingtown; and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown.

Family and friends may call at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Matt's name to the Downingtown Little League, P.O. Box 165, Downingtown, PA 19335.
