Pitching sparks Whippets to win in
opener
If
Downingtown baseball coach Brian
Stackhouse can bottle his team's opening
performance, it will be a great year for
the Whippets. Good pitching,
timely hitting, and aggressive play will
do that for a team. The Whippets
defeated Spring-Ford 8-1 Friday in the
non-league opener for both teams . . .

Eagles win 'Downingtown championship' |
After entering the District
One Class AAA finals for the past four years, Bishop
Shanahan's baseball team has established itself as a
dominant force for a school of its size.
But the real test will

region surrounded by big schools and a competitive
Southern Chester County League.
Bishop Shanahan got off
to a good start by defeating both Glen Mills and
Downingtown. And, with 15 players on their roster,
the Eagles have a good pool of talent to work with.

Whippets look to make run at title
The Whippets put on
quite a pitching display in their season opener
against Spring-Ford as five pitchers allowed just
three hits and one run in an 8-1 victory. The early season success
continued as the team defeated William Tennent,
before losing to Boyertown in the final round of the
Phoenixville Tournament. This early season
success was a spark of optimism for a team that has
been on the verge of success for some time, but met
with disappointing results last year . . .
